2023 WEDDING TRENDS

The new year is here! 2022 is out, and 2023 is in, and with it comes a whole slew of new and exciting wedding trends. I’ve done some research, both on social media and in real life with real weddings, and these are the top five trends I expect to see in 2023:

  • PEARLS OVER BLING: I saw this really coming into play in the second half of 2022, and I think it is going to continue into 2023. Shiny, glinting gemstones are being replaced by softer, opalescent pearls. This isn’t just around the neck; these little iridescent stones are appearing on veils, shoes, jackets, anywhere and anything that can be adorned with them seems to have them, and I love it.
  • SMALLER WEDDINGS OVER LARGER CELEBRATIONS: This is a pandemic era trends that I believe will continue into the new year. Based on what I saw last year, larger-than-life weddings are still out, and couples are sticking to more intimate affairs. I am seeing less and less elopements and micro weddings, but I am not seeing the 300+ blowouts, either, so I think weddings hovering around the 50 to 100 guest mark will continue to be the go-to for 2023.
  • SIMPLICITY IN WEDDING FLORALS: I think this is part eco-friendliness, part economic. I expect to see bouquets become a bit more minimal and repurposeful. By this I mean I think there will be more plants on the scene, once that can be gifted or brought home after the day. I also think smaller arrangements made out of more sustainable greenery will be big. Last year I saw a few wedding party bouquets that were only Baby’s Breath, and they were stunning in their simplicity.
  • THE RETURN OF THE DISPOSABLE CAMERA: With all the hype that there has been about the Fujifilm Instax cameras as of late, I think this is a natural evolution. Film aesthetic is hot right now–the grain and blurry vibes are highly sought after, and these relics would be an amazing way to bring some of that into a wedding day. Yes, I predict this is a big one when it comes to 2023 wedding trends. (Yes, they are still made, and you can buy them here!)
  • LOTS AND LOTS OF PASTELS: As a lover of nudes and blushes, I am here for this. Pantone’s color of the year is Magenta, which is complimented by pastels galore. I expect to see the redish hue pop at weddings, but the bulk of the color families will be the creamier, dreamy soft hues.

So what do you do now that you know this trends? Whatever the hell you want. These are listed to be a dictated Wedding To Do list–they are meant to inspire you to find your dream day vibe. Knowing this will help you know what you love (and what you most definitely don’t), and that will get you where to need to go to get you down your aisle.

What trend is your favorite? What trend is missing?

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
