At sunset, they were going to get into the boat. 

Those were the words I have been waiting a career to hear. A personal photo goal has been to get a cute couple kissing on the water. So far, so sweet moments.

But Sydney and Ben, they were going to change that.

This wasn’t a surprise. As far as couples go, these two are generally up for anything. Their engagement session was just as much a tour of their lake on a pontoon boat as much as it was work, and it was at times hard to tell if they were posing or just playing in the water (it all looked good). It was clear that these two love a good time, and they love it together.

But “together” almost wasn’t a reality. Sydney and Ben’s first date wasn’t quite love at first sight for her; it didn’t go as planned for him. With Ben being Ben, however, he knew, and he moved forward knowing how he felt. This led to a second date, and then a third. Before she knew it, he was buying a house AND planning for a proposal on THE SAME DAY. Not only was that a total surprise, so was the party waiting for her after she said yes. 

For this reason, it was very clear that their Detroit Lakes summer wedding at The Meadows on Lind was going to be nothing short of amazing. Every last little lovely sentimental detail was planned–right down to Wrigley the Flower Dog’s attire (yes, she had a whole attire, and it was awesome). Every moment was planned, but done so with a grain of salt and a Plan B (it is Minnesota, and the weather is the most unpredictable guest).

We didn’t know what that mean for out sunset boat ride…but we weren’t mad once we found out.
