The Greek philosopher Plato is known for his many brilliant ideas and theories. One thought that is not frequently attributed to him, however, is the Split Apart Theory. This idea is as old as time, and can be found across all cultures. It’s a simple idea with major complexities: Our souls were split into two, and therefore we are only half beings that, over the course of a lifetime we are to seek out our other half.
For some, it takes a lifetime. For others, it takes one night at Virginia’s Coates Hotel.
It was during one lucky stay Josh spotted Kaila. As her sister, Cassie, commented in her maid of honor speech, Kaila is a bright light, and it is hard to not fall in love with her, as Josh found out. It only took one quick visit for him to know he could not let Kaila get away, so instead of following her into the elevator (he didn’t want to seem creepy), he made sure to cross paths with her again before any finalized goodbyes were exchanged. He knew that he could never truly say goodbye to her. He knew that very minute in that exact hotel lobby the only words he wanted to say to her were “I do.”
She must have felt the same, as it was a few years laters they did just that. It was a beautiful ceremony–lake before them, those that matter most behind them, and a life full of love ahead of them–they became not only husband and wife, but a family of four. Included in their exchange of vows were a set of promises made to Josh’s two daughters; Kaila guaranteed just as much love for them as their dad. It was very clear their feelings were mutual.
Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Adkins!
