“I think I’m more nervous than she is,” Jeffrey chuckled when I asked about how his daughter, Elizabeth, was feeling that morning, the morning of her wedding.
He wasn’t wrong–or if he wasn’t Elizabeth didn’t show it. Like Queen Victoria, who was once quoted as having said “[g]reat events make me quiet and calm,” Elizabeth was all peace and smiles on her wedding day. It was a day long in the making–and as an epidemiologist, one she wasn’t 100% certain was going to happen in 2021 until it actually happened–so there was plenty to be ready to celebrate. Everything was going exactly as planned, every “classy and elegant…but probably also slightly quirky” detail that Elizabeth had hoped for was coming to fruition. Her gorgeous pinky peach engagement ring was polished and ready for its close up. Her cocktail hour and reception hat was crafted to perfection. Sweet little succulents were ready to be the favorite favor, perfect for a celebration hosted right next door to the conservatory at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
That’s exactly what occurred under the weeping willows on Sunday, June 27. With approximately fifty individuals considered family and friends in a love-filled ceremony that polka-dotted with glimmers of laughter (much like the bride’s veil, which was decorated with some mighty fine bling, these two said “I do.” Not only did they exchange vows and rings, they actually tied a knot for their unity ceremony.
This sweet ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour, complete with delicious crostini and a string quartet; most importantly, however, was the joy that Loren and Elizabeth were able to share with those they invited to spend their day with them. Having the time to mingle and make memories was most important, and they certainly accomplished that.
