Next to their guestbook in a subtle frame was a 5×7 print. Sarah and Patrick were just as gorgeous and glamorous as they were on this day–there wedding day–but the photo was from a different time in their history, a different version of their love story.
It was their prom photo. Tulle background with the classic pose and all.
These two high school friends turned more-than-friends have been through everything together, and it would be easy to say “if they only knew” on their prom day that they would end up eventually becoming husband and wife. But Patrick, he knew. He said so to Sarah on one of their first dates that he thought he was going to marry her. She thought he was crazy, as she explained in her sentimental vows, looking briefly up at him as she read from the little pink book that slightly trembled in her hand. As hard as it might have been for her to believe at seventeen years old that she would trade the high school chic of that formal dance at the Chisholm High School for a rustic wedding amongst tall pines of Grand Rapids, it wasn’t so hard to accept this past Saturday. It was at the Timberlake Lodge where these two began writing the next chapter of their lives together.
It was very clear that they were ready to officially make their two lives one. They both had their moments of emotions, starting with the first look and lasting through their portrait time. Their unity ceremony was a true reflection of their past, present and future: They uniquely combined dirts from their respective hometowns. They handmade their cupcake stand. This was truly a joint effort, and a tremendous sign of all the good things still to come their way.
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Hake! Thank you so much for letting me celebrate with you!
