Three years ago, Jenna said goodbye to her home state of Texas. Nearly 1,500 miles and six states later, she found herself in her new home of southern Minnesota. She traded in the warmth of the Lone Star state for northern winters, and she sees maroon with more gold than the white of her precious Texas A&M Aggies. Amid the corn rows and true country living, however, she found herself somewhere else.
She found herself in love with Jon.
Where Jenna found herself with him brought more into her life than any move could. She found herself a part of a family. With a dog. With a beautiful home. With three sons. It was all the things that bring real meaning into life and make all the difference.
It also brought her to plan a beautiful, elegant, intimate backyard wedding that gathered their closet family and friends together on Saturday in early September. Subtle touches of their love and their life together were scattered all over the place: A handmade arch, a cocktail hour beautifully catered by the mother of the groom, and a wonderful coffee bar. Guest enjoyed those hors d’oeuvres while chatting at high tables before being ushered into a white tent lit by candlelight, where they enjoyed a soul-warming barbecue meal.
There was not one part of this day that wasn’t true to who they are as a couple. Their vows were especially true to themselves. Jon joking admitted that he wouldn’t be over emotional as Jenna wiped away her tears, but it was clear through his words that he loved this woman more than anything, and he couldn’t be happier to have her as his wife. And I think his face in the following photos proves that.
