“Do I need an engagement session?” This is asked early on in the booking process. At KLP, we create flexible, customizable packages that we build with your day in mind, and a part of that experience is a flexible booking gift; that booking gift could be an engagement session. But why? Why is this even an option? Why would a couple choose these photos as their freebee over anything else?
Three reasons:
- IT’S GOOD PRACTICE. Even though we all carry cameras with us, most of us have had minimal professional photographs taken. It’s a different experience than a selfie. An engagement session serves as a great way to get an understanding of how the photography process will go on wedding day, and it will help make the most of that experience. In a way, engagement photos will help you get more bang for your wedding photography buck, as it will prep you for the big day.
- IT’S CONTENT. As the Tik Tok goes, everything is content, and all of us–even those who aren’t in the creation game–benefit from having something to share on social media. Everyone benefits from having professional photos to love and share, and an engagement session is an easy way to get a few. I’ve even had couples who used their complimentary session to secure a new headshot for LinkedIn, so I am not kidding when I say this is content for all corners of the internet. Social media aside, engagement photos are excellent reception decor: They can be printed and framed, used to design a guest book, and things of this nature.
- IT’S FUN. For me, wedding photography is an experience. Everything with this experience is fun while functional. This isn’t stuffy or boring. This is you being the most wildly authentic and true-to-you selves, and having a good time doing so. Engagement sessions are just a couple of friends walking around, talking and taking photos. They’re just proof of a good time with benefits for your wedding day, so why not?
