I’ve said it before, and am sure I’ll say it again: I love engineers.
I am the opposite of an engineer. I am a humanities girl–literature and history to be specific. I am here for the narratives–which is why I blog every wedding. When something goes wrong, however, my brain is wired to see that as foreshadowing or irony or other literary device…and in many cases, it derails everything. It’s not the sexiest part of my personality.
Kristina–aka Tina–knows this, as she was an ninth grade English student of mine. She sat through my unit about “Romeo + Juliet” where I pointed out all the points of the plot where something went wrong and pushed the whole story in the direction it tragically goes.
This is of no nevermind to, however, as she is an engineer now, and rather than seeing points of problems as actual problems, they are times to pivot. Rather than be perturbed, she sees a chance to change the process to get to the desired ending, rather than the destined one. Rather than saying “that was predictable,” things are probable.
This is why there was no problems with rain on her wedding day, no concerns when Siri gave me terrible directions, no worries when the sun did come out right at portrait time. It didn’t matter that her reception venue wasn’t even built yet when she booked it. It would all be OK, she said/ She knew what to do, and she new it would be everything she wanted in the end.
And she was right. It was everything.
Thank you both so much for letting me be a part of your big day!!
