HOW TO REUSE A CAKE TOPPER

Custom cake toppers are all the rage right now, and I am here for it. But what do you do when the cake has been cut and you’re now left with a sticky stick of a memory? How do you reuse a cake topper? There’s a few ideas floating around…

  1. TURN IT INTO AN ORNAMENT

Cut that stick off, maybe drill a little hole, and boom–now you have a new ornament. That is one thing you can do to make the most of that investment every holiday season. I have seen some people hang it from a wreath, others hang it from the tree. There is no end to the opportunities to make this memory an annual reminder of your day.

  1. FRAME IT

Places like Framebridge can frame pretty much anything. After you receive your photos back and are selecting the ones you would love to hang on the wall, consider making it a mixed media presentation and include a few framed physical momentos, such as your cake topper. This would go so well with a DIY floral frame featuring your wedding flowers…

  1.  KEEP IT AS A TCHOTCHKE

You can prop it up in a hutch or on a shelf and see it every day. If you don’t want to just lean it up against the wall or on something else, you can find cute little cakes on Etsy that can be used to show your cake topper off year round.

Your cake topper doesn’t have to have one-and-done use; it can serve a bigger place in your life beyond your day!

What ideas do you have for how to reuse a cake topper?

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
