FIVE FAVORITE SMALL BUSINESS FOR 2021

November 26, 2021

The saying is “Go big or go home,” but that works for everything EXCEPT businesses. Small businesses enrich our communities, and the most impact on local economies–because they ARE the local economy. Services like Etsy and Shopify have made our small business world smaller, so we can empower all across the world.

I like to use Black Friday to highlight the five small businesses I think deserve a little extra wink. Today I am winking at…

  1. AKRE HOMESTEAD

I have known Jenna and her family forever, and she is the sweetest. She is the fifth generation to toil in the soil of her family’s farm, and she is making the most amazing self-care and spa-related items. What started with cold processed soap has evolved into face and beard oils, bath salts, and beeswax items (like wraps and melts). It is clean, handmade, and nothing short of awesome. Check her out her small business on Etsy.

  1. MEAGAN JENETTE

I know I featured my friend Meagan’s small business a couple years back, but her things are so great, she deserves another shout out. Maegan comes from a long line of seamstresses, and it shows: I have one of her cross body bags that I have been using since January 2019 and it is still in mint condition–there hasn’t been so much as a stray thread. Maegan is a beyond talented sewer with a great eye for design and style, so any of her goodies are great. Find her online here!

  1. PEP + POP

Leanna, the owner and creator of Pep + Pop, is as sweet and southern as they come, and it her product line screams that. Pep + Pop offers a wide selection of home goods (from pillows to mugs to stationery to candles and everything in between) that have been hand-designed by her. Like the Spanish Moss, she pulls deeply from her southern roots for inspiration, and that sense of hospitality fits into any home, no matter their direction. Shopping is so easy on her website!

  1. KINGFOLK CO.

I love people who are passionate about what they do. My girl Kerri is nothing if she isn’t passionate about her products and her mission. Everything she creates is based in her faith, and she brings it to life with her designs (which is modern and delightful!). She has made waves in her small business, so if you are seeking a few faith-based gifts that are as functional as they are fun, check out Kingfolk Co!

  1. WHITE SPRUCE MARKET

Bailey and her crew over here are amazing gift curators (they have handled my client gifting for years), so if you are looking for a women-owned small business that will send a gift with a lot of love and just as much class, trust them! They have many boxes from which to choose, and they will leave the recipient with all the feels. Visit them online to learn more!

This is not an all-inclusive list, so please please PLEASE feel free to drop your favorite small business (and their contact info) in the comments below!!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
