Think about some of your best of friends. Think about what you would do for them. Loan them a little money? Babysit their kids? Watch their house when they’re out of town? Take a 20-day road trip from Mexico to northern Minnesota to watch them get married?

That’s what a few of Joey’s did, just for him. They loaded up the camper and headed due north with the dog in toe. If that’s not a friend, I don’t know what is.

In all honesty, I am certain many of you reading this are thinking, “Jeez, I just would have sent a card.” But you don’t know Joey and Kayla. These two are worth the travel, as their hearts are huge for their family and friends (and really, life in general). That’s why 70 of their closest friends and family didn’t hesitate to join them at Cascade Lodge this past weekend for their Lake Superior fall wedding (one even made the bouquet. Like, they didn’t use the silk florals Kayla had…the friend *actually* foraged the forest for fall foliage and crafted that arrangement–complete with a bark wrap. Can you even?!)

As a southern Minnesota girl and a Cali surfer guy, there is a balance between the two of them. Joey even joked post-ceremony that he had pushed for shorts and flip flops on a Hawaiian beach…but up here in Lutsen was good, too (he still wore sandals, and paired them perfectly with his suit). Compromise, he said; he was already working on learning to compromise.

With peak colors and a little Lake Superior haze (along with a few sprinkles of rain), these two said “I do” to not just forever, but to the future they have been building (and will continue to do so). Congratulations again, Mr. + Mrs. Molina! Thank you for letting me celebrate with you!
