Minnesota is home to 67 state parks. Sprinkled all across the state, these parks give each region that hosts one a one-of-a-kind destination that, when combined together (along with the wayside rests and trail systems) create over 260,000 acres of refuge in this, the Gopher State.
The newest of these parks, Lake Vermillion State Park, is located in north St. Louis County. Created with 3,000 acres of land purchased from U.S. Steel, it is on the southeast shore of the beautiful, pristine lake with whom it shares a name, and has all the things one would want in a state park.
For Rachael and Tim, it also had everything they could want for an engagement session: Water, woods, wildflowers, Waylon (their pupper). It had everything for this couple who searches for the best in everything.
In simply scheduling their session, it became very clear that these two not only seek adventure, but live in it. I knew from their inquiry that they were planning an amazing, intimate, awesome destination wedding to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee (which sounds like a dream). Before then, however, they are taking time to zip off to Japan this November. The natural explorers they are would bring this to their engagement session in this brand-new park, making it their own expedition into this new land.
I mean, who else would say “Hey, we say a field of flowers up that hill there…can we climb up to them?” while dressed for photos? (To which this photographer excitedly explained “Heck yes!”)
Along with then into these wilderness they brought their fur baby, Waylon, who at just a few months old was an incredible listener (to not only his humans but also to every single thing around him). This little family is in store for years of filled, never-ending stories of adventure and love. Best of luck to you, Rachael + Tim!
