They say marriage is an adventure. That may be, but when a couple’s first date is skydiving, that’s setting the bar pretty high.
Like, getting-married-on-the-top-of-a-clip-have-to-ride-a-gondola-to-get-there high.
Amy and Jesse met seven years July ago through friends; Amy’s friend Laura was marrying Jesse’s friend Ben. That first night was assumed by Amy to be a one-time engagement, but another night a month later lead them to Baldwin, Wisconsin, and onto a plane chartered by Twins Cities Skydiving. Their free-fall to the earth had then also falling into love, and from that moment they were inseparable; they became a couple, partners in exploration
Some of those explorations would have them seeing the wonders of the world, from a slew of national parks around the United States to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia to the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland…all beginning with seeing the cliffs of Moose Mountain in Lusten, Minnesota, when they took their first official trip together and crashed Ben and Laura’s honeymoon (after that, they would frequently head north to snowboard and take in the finest points of a Minnesota winter).
How appropriate, then, for them to become husband and wife at that spot in a ceremony officiated by Ben himself, nearly seven years to the day that they started what would (and will continue to be) their greatest and most amazing adventure of all.
A selection of their closest friends and family joined this couple on the top of Moose Mountain Eagle Ridge Resort in the August heat to toast to them–with either her Cuban Libre or his Moscow Mule–in an intimate, love-filled ceremony overlooking the valley of forest that leads straight to the shores of Lake Superior. That ceremony broke into dinner and dancing and treats from an astonishing dessert buffet, complete with Amy’s favorite, a Simma’s cheesecake, topped with helmets from two opposing forces (Amy and Jesse will be creating a home of dueling faiths, as Jesse is a Vikings fan and Amy loves her Packers…it may be wise that they were married before football season…).
No matter what sort of expedition life throws at these two, there is no doubt they will face it together and make it through. Best of luck to you, Amy + Jesse!
