5 REASONS TO VISIT MONTREAL

Montreal, the vibrant metropolis nestled in the heart of Quebec, is a city that never ceases to amaze and captivate travelers, which now includes me. Las month I finally visited Quebec, and spent six amazing days in this city. As someone who is of French Canadian ancestry, it was nice to be back in the land my family immigrated from, but in more ways than I expected. From its European charm to its picturesque fall foliage, there are countless reasons to pack your bags and explore this Québécois gem. My five favorite reasons to visit Montreal…

1. Clean and Immaculate:

Montreal’s cleanliness is a testament to the pride its residents take in maintaining their beautiful city. The streets are spotless, the public spaces well-kept, and the air crisp and fresh. You can wander through the city without the clutter and chaos often associated with urban environments, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in its beauty. They have recently passed legislation that prohibits the use of many single-use plastics, and the positive aspects of that law show with the lack of litter.

2. Surprisingly Bilingual:

One of the delightful surprises in Montreal is the level of bilingualism that permeates the city. While French is the official language, you’ll find a significant portion of the population fluent in English, especially if you stay closer to city center and Old Montreal. This bilingualism makes it incredibly accessible to international visitors, eliminating any language barriers and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.

3. Fall’s Fiery Beauty:

Visiting Montreal in the fall is a visual treat that should not be missed. The city transforms into a canvas of warm, rich colors as the leaves change, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle. Mont Royal Park, in particular, offers panoramic views of the city and is a prime spot to witness this incredible seasonal transformation. I was perhaps a bit too early for a real show, but what I did see what stunning, rivaling even what Minnesota’s beloved Lutsen produces.

4. The InterContinental Montreal:

If you know me, you know I love hotels. I might love this hotel most of all, and it is definitely one of the top reasons to visit Montreal. The InterContinental Montreal is a true gem among the city’s accommodations. This luxury hotel perfectly combines modern elegance with a touch of European charm. Its prime location in Old Montreal offers a front-row seat to the city’s history and culture.

From impeccable service to opulent rooms, the InterContinental Montreal enhances your stay; it makes it an unforgettable part of your Montreal experience. I had six nights in their stunning Suite Illustre where I was greeted with a delicious plate of charcuterie, and it was FREE, partly because of my IHG Chase card. Want to know more? 5. A Unique Blend of European and Canadian Influences:

Montreal is the epitome of a city that seamlessly merges the best of both worlds. Its European flair is evident in its cobblestone streets, charming architecture, and cafe culture, while its undeniable Canadian spirit is reflected in the warm hospitality and welcoming nature of its residents. This harmonious coexistence creates a unique and enchanting ambiance that is both sophisticated and down-to-earth.

In conclusion, Montreal is a city of contrasts and wonders, offering visitors a unique blend of cleanliness, bilingualism, fall beauty, exceptional accommodations like the InterContinental Montreal, and a perfect fusion of European and Canadian influences. These are just a handful of the reasons to visit Montreal. When you travel to Montreal, you embark on a journey that promises unforgettable experiences and cherished memories. This vibrant and picturesque Canadian city is ready to welcome you with open arms, and it’s time to discover its many enchantments for yourself.

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
