Author Andrea Davis Pinkey once said that “[o]ne of the many challenges of wearing many hats is that I love each and every one of them!”
If that ain’t the truth, I don’t know what it.
I have taken on many roles in my life; some have been temporary, others are forever markers of who I am. I wouldn’t trade any of my titles to be anyone else. All we can be in this world is who we are, and that is always, ALWAYS enough.
My favorite titles are…
- DOG MOM
I love my Jack Russell, Benny. I grew up with dogs, but I went without a four-legged friend in my life for close to ten years. I didn’t realize how lonely those years were until I picked up this furbaby five years ago. He’s my best buddy, and he makes every day so much more fun. He can be a little distracting (he pushed his way onto my lap three different times while writing this), but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
- ENTREPRENEUR
I love business. I always knew I would be in business for myself one day (I was that girl on the bus who would undercut those fifty cent fundraiser suckers by selling Blow Pops for a quarter…my ethics have evolved since then). Business is more like an experiment than anything else–what happens if I do this? What results can I achieve with that? I honestly love it, and I feel so privileged to an entrepreneur.
- EDUCATOR
Even though my days in education are numbered (for now), it has been a great honor to have been Ms. LaTarte for fourteen years. Or Liss MaTarte, if you are from my favorite troupe in the history of theatre, the Floodwood Polar Bear Players. Teaching wasn’t the adventure that I ever expected in my life, but it was a wonderful little side trip that I am glad happened.
- WRITER
I do not have a lot of things I think I am naturally good at; I’ve put a lot of time into learning so I can be a little bit above mediocre. Writing, however, is something I believe to me a legitimate God-given skill of mine. I have always loved the written word and can use it to my advantage in many ways.
- PLANNER
I love being organized; I keep two planners, use a couple apps, and have one Excel spreadsheet to help me keep all my lives in line. I am so specific about my planning that I even created my own planner (it was so hard to find one that work perfectly). I can’t wait to bring that to you this summer/fall!
So…who are you? What is your marker? What hat(s) do you wear that are your favorite?
