Is an elopement for you? This is a question that every couple needs to ask themselves as they begin their wedding planning process. No love story is exactly the same, and therefore no celebration will be, either. It is important to weigh all the options so you know exactly what you are looking for when it comes to your big day.
I have seen three major reasons why an elopement might be for you:
- YOU WANT AN EXPERIENCE
A big reason why KLP couples choose to elope or have a microwedding is because they want more than just a trip to a courthouse. They want their celebration to be a full experience–a vacation, adventure, and wedding all in one. They were going to get married anyway, I hear, so they want to make it something more–and the more the make of it, the more memories they will have of it. Many of my couples who come up to elope along the north shore plan it in such a way where they can take in all that this area of Minnesota and they make a whole event of it–like a vacation, wedding, and honeymoon all in one.
- YOU DESIRE ONE-OF-A-KIND PHOTOGRAPHS
In all the elopements I have photographed, this has been one of the best attributes: There is no limit on the dramatic, awe-inspiring images we can capture. When a wedding is sans guests, we can get you right down by the lake or deep into the big woods. We are not limited to our ability to adventure. Personally, I love this about elopements–we’re not truly having fun until I am stranded on a rock or rolling in the dirt on a cliff.
Tied to this is also the sentimentality of a place. Maybe you had your first trip together to a certain site, or maybe you always camp at the same lot at the same ground, so it would mean so much to exchange vows at that location. This is also a solid reasons to favor an elopement.
- YOU ONLY WANT TO PLAN WHAT MATTERS MOST
Elopements allow you to place special focus on the parts of wedding planning that mean the most to you. Be that the dress, flowers, vows, photography, videography, etc., you are free to spend your wedding day dollars on what matters most to you.
Whatever day you plan, be it an elopement or a traditional wedding, there is only one thing that matters: You make it your, and you live (and love) every moment of it.
