The North Shore of Lake Superior is kind of long. Its 150 miles stretches from Duluth to the Canadian Border, and it is hard to find a place not photogenic along the way. For this reason, many a couple have exchanged their vows along this epic shoreline. From Glensheen to Palisade Head to Tofte Cove to Grand Portage State Park, the options are incredible.
In the face of endless venue choices, you need vendors who know no bounds. For florals, then, you need Superior Blooms.
This Duluth-based florist team came to exist to support the couples who chose this lake as their wedding destination. Early in their business, mom Sharon and Daughter Mariah would actually create arrangements out of the back of their mini van for weddings along Lake Superior. Mariah says it best on their website: “It all began in the back of my minivan. I’d been unhappy with my own wedding flowers and I wanted my sister to have a different experience. My mom and I set out to learn the craft of floral arranging and 10 years later, we’ve worked with hundreds of happy clients and thousands of beautiful blooms.”Even though they have moved out of the van and they now call the Medical Arts Building home, the mission of Superior Blooms stays the same a decade in: Providing wedding flowers for Lake Superior lovers. Mom Sharon has retired, and now Emily and Mariah create the beauties those having northern Minnesota nuptials have come to love.
A quick scroll of their Instagram account shows bringing joy is exactly what they do. Every personality is found within their grid: From the bright and vibrant to the neutral and subtle bride and groom, there is a bouquet and boutonniere for all tastes from Superior Blooms. I was lucky enough to work with them a couple weekends ago with Britt and Tom’s wedding, and she married a gorgeous purple and teal creation that was amazing. Don’t think they are only for weddings, though—they offer a variety of arrangement and gifts for reasons! If you are planning a Lake Superior wedding or elopement, you cannot go wrong with Superior Blooms! Find them on their website, on Instagram, and on Facebook!
