5 REASON I LOVE PELOTON

February 3, 2020

Like a lot of us, I have a real love-hate relationship with exercise. I am either all in or all out. As of late, I have been way out.

I wanted to be a little less out for 2020, but I wasn’t sure of what direction to go. I didn’t want to head back into a gym, just because I know my track record with that. I love classes, but my schedule is just too wonky to make it work. So what’s a girl to do?

Try Peloton, that’s what.

And that’s exactly what I did. And, one month in, I love it. Why do I love it? Well…

1.) IT LITERALLY GOES EVERYWHERE

When it comes to exercising, I take the path of least resistance. I will try to get out of it any way I can. Peloton eliminates excuses. It’s app-based, so it goes wherever a phone and tablet can go. Programming can also be preloaded to avoid connectivity issues. Peloton instructors plan and provides a powerful workout with minimal equipment, so as long as you can access weights, a user will always be in good shape (no pun intended).

2.) IT DOES EVERYTHING

Honestly, it has everything: Strength, stretching, cardio, yoga, and meditation are all included in the app’s programming. This is all in addition to cycling, running, and walking, which of course work in conjunction with their bikes and treadmills. There is even an Outdoor category that provides audio courses for users who rather walk and run on the road. Peloton provides full body wellness with this app.

3.) IT PROVIDES THE CLASS EXPERIENCE WITHOUT BEING THERE

The classes one takes on the Peloton app are often previously recorded courses that where held at their Chelsea studio in Manhattan. Therefore, participants receive the high-energy from the instructor, even if they were not their in person. There are also of course classes that are live streamed, so if someone who is accessing Peloton at a distance wants to be in the room where it is happening, they still can.

4.) IT IS AN AMAZING VALUE

Like most people, I knew of Peloton first as the bike (which if you think that machine is boo koo dollars, don’t look up how much their tread costs). Naturally, I was doubtful that the app would be that affordable. Much to my surprise, it is only $12 a month, which is a steal considering how much gym memberships can be (I know from experience I have never found one for anywhere near $13…and I don’t think I would trust it if I did).

5.) IT CHALLENGES AND REWARDS YOU

Even though it might sound silly, it is psychologically sound: he Peloton App will award users icons for milestones met. Your first class in a category? Here’s your milestone marker! You’ve worked out for three/five/ten/twenty consecutive weeks? Here’s another little icon for your profile! As simple as it sounds, it truly does keep motivation high. Peloton has also added monthly challenges starting in February 2020, which will award “medals” based on completion of the challenge (I signed up for the Activity challenge, if you want to join me – my user name is @kaylaleephotomn! Same as my IG handle).

If you find yourself like me–motivated to move it but restricted with space and time, check out Peloton’s app. They give you a free month, so there is no excuse to not try. Click here to learn more and see what they can offer you!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
