Sweet Amelia’s, then, is beyond good: It’s perfect.

This little cupcakery and bake shop is relatively new to the Grand Rapids and northern Minnesota wedding scene, but it has already made it’s place. This is no doubt in part due to the personality of the owner, Sarah Richards, who is as sweet as her buttercreme. Sarah is a hometown girl who has proven that you can always come home. Thankfully for us in northern Minnesota, she brought back with her a refined palate and unique flavors. After her high school graduation, Sarah headed out west to attend The Arts Institute in California for Culinary Arts, which eventually hauled her back east to New York City where she healed the title of executive pastry chef. Now she hustled here back home to bring us gourmet flavors (a personal favorite is Boston Creme Pie).

Sarah’s treats are not just tasty for the tongue, but also for the eyes as she puts much effort into decorating each cupcake to fit its flavor personality (check out the mermaid cupcakes if your are skeptical about that). Everything is made from real ingredients and they are fresh, never frozen, ensuring consistent delicousness with every bite.

Not a cupcake person? Not a problem. Sweet Amelia’s also provides other options, from cinnamon rolls to cannolis to scones.
