Studious, imaginative, and contemplative: Madi I CLASS OF 2018

If I haven’t made it abundantly clear, I love my college town. Duluth, Minnesota, speaks directly to the heart and souls of those who lover her. I could spend every free minute in Duluth, and it still wouldn’t be enough time to soak up all the good vibes that ride in on the Lake Superior waves. Whenever I get the chance to show someone else around this town on the hill, I make the absolute most of it.

If that person is herself a future University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldog, well, we do it up Duluth style. When that future fellow Bulldog wants to become an English teacher, we go the extra mile (especially when the photographer is herself a former Bulldog who has taught an English class or two…for the last eleven years).

This was the exact situation in which I found Madi at her senior session. A city girl who is thinking and hoping she can come north to this city on the greatest lake for college, this photographic moment was the perfect time to show her the ins and outs of The . This included a stop at the legendary Chester Park to shoot along the iconic Chester Creek, a quick visit to Salon Campus Center before lobbing a few at the UMD tennis courts, ands a final moment at the beautiful Brighton Beach, where my fellow English lover delighted us with her ukulele and shared a bit of her love for Edgar Allan Poe (to which I recommended Flannery O’Connor, as this young lady was definitely a sort of kindred spirit).

Madi is definitely a studious, imaginative, and contemplative member of the Class of 2018: Always thinking, always dreaming, and loving every minute of it.

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
