DIYing a wedding is a noble, respectable decision. What I love about it is that absolutely everything can be done yourselves. This includes even your invitations! With the use of a digital design platform like Canva, you can create your own custom wedding invitation suite (or you can even purchase a template from Etsy that is all ready to rock and roll in Canva). Where do you go once you have that design? Shutterfly.
If you are unfamiliar, Shutterfly is a website and mobile application that allows users to create photo books, cards, and other photo gifts. They provide a range of services including custom photo printing, photo storage, and photo sharing–which is also a great resource if you caught my previous blog. Some of the most popular products offered by Shutterfly are photo books, photo cards, photo gifts, home decor, and prints. They also have a mobile app which allows users to upload and edit photos, create photo gifts and order prints directly from their mobile devices.
But my favorite thing? They make it so easy to print your own invitation creation. Yes indeed, Shutterfly allows you to upload your own design for invitations and print them. They offer a feature called “Upload Your Own Design” which allows you to upload your own invitation design, which can be a PDF, JPG, PNG or TIFF files.
To print your own design on Shutterfly, you can start by selecting the “Upload Your Own Design” option on their website or mobile app. You can then choose the type of invitation you want to print, such as a 5×7 flat card, folded card or a postcard. Then you can upload your design file and make adjustments to the layout and size if needed. Once you are satisfied with your design, you can preview and make any final adjustments before ordering your invitations.
The only real caveat is formatting. It is important to make sure that the design you upload is of high resolution, and that the text and images are clear and legible. Shutterfly also provides guidelines on their website to make sure that your design is print-ready. If you are using Canva, they walk you right through this and, and if you have a designer create them for you (a service I offer my clients). It honestly couldn’t make this easier to have your own invitation design.
Additionally, you can also order matching envelopes, and RSVP cards to complete your invitation set. Shutterfly also provides a feature of addressing the envelopes for you, by uploading your guest list. Seriously–it can’t be easier.
If you are looking for a simple-pimple way to infuse your day with a little bit more of your personality, consider creating a custom invitation that you can print right through Shutterfly. Check out all they offer right here:
