NOTE: This post might read like an ad, but it is not. This is just love. I do have a storefront on Zola, though, FYI.
This past weekend found me where I am many weekends: On the road. I took this time to get caught up on my podcasts, and I enjoyed several episodes of How I Built This with Guy Raz, including one where he interviewed Shan-Lyn Ma, the co-creator and CEO of Zola. How she grew this behemoth in the wedding industry was inspiring, no doubt, but it also made me reflect on the reasons why, as a member of the wedding industry, I love Zola.
I came up with three reasons:
- THEY ARE KIND OF A ONE STOP SHOP
Zola started primarily with being a one-stop registry for couples. They worked on the drop-ship idea (guests could place an order one Zola and the platform would get it shipped from the manufacturer), and it was revolutionary. Since those early days, however, the site has really become a catch all for weddings. Zola now offers vendor profiles, the ability to host your own wedding website–which I totally recommend–manage your guest list, shop for wedding related items (such as favors or matching PJs), and even design and send your invitations. I don’t want to say you don’t have to go anywhere else…but, it’s real close
- LOVE IS LOVE, AND ZOLA AGREES
This point is so important. If you remember in 2019, Zola was a David that challenged the Goliath known as the Hallmark Channel when the former pulled all advertisement from the latter; Hallmark had banned an ad that featured two women in love, and Zola said we’re done here. It is those sorts of ethics that make me happy to be a vendor on their platform. Love is love, and all are welcome here just as they are on Zola.
