You can’t always get what you want. But sometimes, you get what you need. Wise words from the Rolling Stones that in too many scenarios prove too true for the real world.
This was the situation leading up to Amanda and Blake’s historic venue winter wedding in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was all in for a classy, elegant December wedding. Green, cream, white, and black were her colors. The bridesmaids wore luxurious and rich velvet that paired beautifully with their delicate flowers. Pinecones and pine boughs filled in the reception space.
The only thing missing? A stereotypical cover of white snow we often come to expect from a Minnesota late fall. Discussions with Amanda up to her wedding day revolved around that wish; all she wanted (in addition to marrying her love) was some snow. Not a lot, just enough.
When we pulled into the Glencoe City Center, a venue cutely and creatively converted out of the old Glencoe High School, things were still looking mighty green. The northern half of Minnesota was prepping for their first winter storm warning of the season this particular Saturday, yes, but down south in McLeod County, it was just cloudy.
Until it wasn’t.
Sometime shortly after sunset, a flake floated down. And then another. Before too long, it was a full-fledge snowfall, which we certainly took advantage of. It wasn’t exactly what Amanda had wanted, but it was everything she needed to truly cap off an amazing wedding day.
Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Syvertson! Thank you for letting me celebrate with you!
