In the beginning, I was asked all the time where I would like to photograph weddings. Like, if I had a dream venue, one that I could revisit time and time again, what would it be?

I don’t remember my specific answer, but I know this: My reality now is way different than my expectation back then…and I couldn’t be happier about it.

I honestly envisioned all the exposed brick and industrial vibes. Middle of a city, no doubt. Places like Clyde Iron Works, Aria, 3 Ten Event Space–they were what my wedding dreams were made of. But then, one fall day, I took a trip north–way north, even more north than Grand Marais–and fell in love with another iconic Minnesota venue.

Nearly one dozen trips later, I’m still in love. 

The Gunflint Lodge + Outfitters is like no other place. Rustic buildings, cliffs with the most dramatic of views, and wood with water nearby, it provides a little bit for everyone. This venue continues to prove that adventure elopements aren’t just for people who want to scale a north face, but also for those who just want to bundle up in their North Face jackets or slip on their hiking boots and venture a bit off the beaten path. 

As someone who loves going down the road less traveled, I love being invited along to capture such a monumental moment in one of Minnesota’s most magnificent places.
