Honeymoon Bluff. A perfect spot for a wedding, no? 

Yes. Oh yes.

Approximately 25 miles down Gunflint Trail, this 1-mile hiking loop is a part of the iconic Superior National Forest trail system. The USDA describes it as a “short but steep” trail that offers a tremendous view of Hungry Jake Lake. 

Indianapolis-based Matt and Jackie first houghed it up to the bluff on one of their first vacations to northern Minnesota.They asked the front desk at Clearwater Lodge + Outfitters, who recommended this specific trail. They hiked it, and fell in love with the area. They fell so far into love, they knew it would be the place they said “I do.” 

At the time, they had already fallen in love with one another. When she was working at a CVS Pharmacy, he was working at a parts store nearby; he would sometimes swing in just to see her. As it always does, one thing led to another and another…and before they knew it, they were engaged and had an extra-special matching tattoo that tied their interests together so well. 

 With a collection of their closest family that made the 12-hour venture north, these two promised forever to one another right on the rocks of Honeymoon Bluff in a sunset ceremony. As the light glinted off of Hungry Jack Lake, there was much laughter as well as a few tears as Matt and Jackie exchanged vows. A particularly sweet moment was when Beau, the couple’s son, unexpectedly but so sweetly took their hands in his during their ceremony. 

It was all things sweet, sentimental, adventurous, and elegant.
