“You ever see “New Girl?” That’s us.”
If you are unfamiliar with the iconic and delightful Fox Show that ran from 2011 until 2018, it goes a little something like this: The female lead moves into an apartment with three men with whom she becomes friends, and with one she ultimately comes to love.
That was the story of Lizzy and Caleb, as their roomateship turn into friendship which became a romantic relationship that does have a happy ending. Yes, like the show there was a proposal and there was a wedding.
With fewer eyepatches.
After a couple months of planning and then re-planning, these two were finally able to say “I do” on August 18, 2020. This duo from Iowa decided on Tofte Cove as their perfect place for their Lake Superior destination wedding, and they were joined by their most immediate of family members. In the days prior, the weather hemmed and hawed about cooperating; one day it said rain, the next sun. When the monumental moment arrived and Lizzy waited with her dad on a path in the woods, a few raindrops fell like confetti, but they served only to be the grand entrance for this bride and an unexpected—but more than welcomed—technicolor wedding crasher.
After the vows were exchanged and family photos taken, it was time for a little cake by the ocean—or lake, rather. Lizzy had assembled the most wonderful cake table for two, where she and Caleb got to spend a few intimate moments isolated from the rest of the world be husband and wife. It was as beautiful and sweet as their frosted berry cake.
