KLP SECLUDED CEREMONY

I know it might seem weird that I would write about myself in my Vendor Spotlight, but with all that is happening in the world right now, I know what we need is love, and I have a unique way to help you tell your love story.

I’m calling it the KLP Secluded Ceremony.

As I write this, brides and grooms have been given the green light on their ceremonies, but receptions are not fully back to normal. This scenario has put a lot of couples in a conundrum: I want to get married, but I want to celebrate afterwards. This has pushed this idea of macro weddings into the industry’s lexicon.

WHAT’S A MACRO WEDDING?

A macro wedding is a normal wedding, but smaller. Instead a full-fledged guest list, it is your closest friends and family. All the elements of a large wedding experience apply—the details, the first looks, the ceremony—just on a smaller scale. It is different than an true elopement as those are more the two of you “running away” to get married. A macro wedding is a traditional wedding, just smaller. I would say fifteen or fewer guests would be the optimal

SO WHAT IS THE KLP SECLUDED CEREMONY, AND HOW IS IT HELPFUL?

Again, as I write this, large celebrations are not allowed—and even once they are, many couples have already indicated that they will be taking is slow, many waiting until 2021 to have their reception. The KLP Secluded Ceremony allows you to have a full wedding experience while maximizing the number of people in attendance.

How do I do this? I am the officiant as well as the photographer.

No, you read that right. I am a certified reverend with the Universal Life Church. Yes, the online place. Yup. The spot where I entered my email and I was in. As silly as it sounds, it does permit me to marry people in the state of Minnesota…dnd, if I am being honest, about half of the weddings I have photographed were officiated by ULC reverends that were friends or family of the couple, so I know it works. This means that’s one less vendor to reserve.  When you book a KLP Simply Sweet Ceremony, you get a photographer and officiant in one.

OK, I AM INTRIGUED. WHAT ELSE DOES THIS ALLOW ME TO DO?

It allows you to get married any where you want. When I had this idea last June, I was sitting down on the rocks at Temperance River State Park in Tofte. There was this cool rock…literally, THIS ROCK:

And I thought to myself that would be a beautiful spot to get married. But it was a bit of a hike. There would be no way to get a ton of people down there. And with a traditional officiant, they would be in the way and block that epic shot.

So I further thought to myself: What if I could marry people? What if they could be up front, I could be in the back with my camera and my ceremony script? What if we did that?

We now do for your “I do.” We call is the KLP Secluded Ceremony.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
