Evening and sunset wedding ceremonies are always stunning, that’s a given. But they have met their perfect match with Gunflint Lodge’s Lookout Point. With a north-northwest facing view overlooking the Superior National Forest and Gunflint Lake, there is no other wedding location like it, and it is a great choice for elegant, adventurous couples choosing their own adventure.
For Mandy and Nate, it has always been about the adventure. As a Montana boy and a Washington state girl, they first met as engineering students at a campus in his home state. As tends to be the case with college love, the two grew apart as their studies can to and end. It was only a matter of time, however, that they would eventually come back together. Mandy joined Nate in his new home on the Iron Range of Minnesota, and decided on forever.
And that forever started this past Friday evening at the historic fishing lodge along the iconic Cook County Road 12.
This is why Nate patiently at the edge of the rock face, hands crossed. Mandy was just a few feet up right trail, receiving one last kiss from her dad before they would take the trail to the family waiting to wish them both into their future. It was an intimate ceremony, attended by only their moms, dads, and siblings. This was the original plan, which turned out to be a perfect with the hindsight the spring of 2020 has shown. With Canada behind them and a handful of their closest kin beside them, these two said their “I do.”
Congratulations again, Mandy + Nate! Thank you for letting me celebrate with you at your summer Gunflint elopement!
