First comes love, then comes marriage…
…but somewhere in there is a wonderful wedding that, at times, might make you want to run far, far away. Between choosing colors and dresses and vendors, there is plenty to decide before saying “I do.” Somedays it will seem like nothing but fun, and other days you will want nothing to do with it.
The goal of this post is to help you help yourself, and maybe make one part of your planning a little but easier.
Clearly, I think having a photographer is important. But you should never have just ANY photographer. You should have YOUR photographer. How do you figure that out? Three simple ways:
1.) KNOW YOUR BUDGET
If you know how much you want to spend, it will make it easy to sort out with whom you can invest. As you are looking at photographers, knowing how much you have to spend will keep you from getting attached to someone that is outside of your budget. (The Knot has a really great calculator to help you plan your wedding budget!)
2.) KNOW YOUR STYLE
In this digital world, not all photography is created equally. Some is dark and moody; others are light and airy. There is some that is posed, and some that is completely candid. Understanding what you your style is will help narrow down which photographer you would like to capture your big day.
3.) KNOW YOUR PERSONALITY
Are you a social butterfly? Or do you like someone else to be “large and in charge?” This little fact about yourself should be considered when choosing a photographer. Like people, photographers come with different personalities that they use to do their job. We learn better from some teachers and feel like we receive better care from some nurses because of their personality and approach to their job. Taking yours and the photographer’s personality into consideration is an important step in helping you find the perfect person to capture your wedding.
By finding out these knows, you’ll be sure to say yes to the right photographer!
