Lauren was the final session of the Class of 2018 senior photo season, and what a high note it was. Not only was it in the fall (a personal favorite photo season), but it was with a girl who was as bright and colorful as the orange and red leaves on the trees.
I met Lauren and her mom on a little piece of farmland in Stillwater, Minnesota, which is now a home for a craft ceramic studio. For the stunning and artistic Lauren, there could have been no more perfect of a place for her senior photos. Just prior to her senior session, Lauren had just returned from a work trip with her mother that included a trip to well-known art school in the southern part of the country. This was a very approrpriate collegiate visit, as Lauren’s goal for after high school was to work in the digital arts, either graphic design or photography (or some mix of the two).
This girl, I tell you, it was like looking in the soul’s mirror.
Working with Lauren was like working with a senior-me: Quiet smile, kind chatter, and a giggle or two (or three). The longer we worked, the more we openly discussed about all the things related to digital communications–from the career options to the innovations to all the reasons why an iPhone will never, ever replace a real, live photographer (different modes and multiple filters over megapixels will never be the same experience as working with someone, guaranteed).
With all the hassle for tassel behind her, this confident, charming, and chill young lady can look forward towards what will come…and she will no doubt do it with a smile. This is Lauren, Class of 2018:
