When I began this crazy awesome photography adventure a couple of years back, I kind of knew I would eventually encounter former students at some point along the way (it’s not just a small world, it’s northern Minnesota). But as a primarily ninth grade teacher, I assumed that would be a little ways out.
But within just a few years of walking out of high school, Zach and Brianna walked into my email, which resulted in the three of us walking out into an expansive field one early October day for their engagement session. Yes, engagement session—these sweethearts who met in marching band decided to keep on making beautiful music together for the years to come.
Unfortunately, the weather was not quite as ready for some fall lovin’. Brianna and I had gone back and forth quite bit, trying to predict the weather. One day would be too wet, the next too cold. Finally we were able to settle on a drier, warmer day, which was still a little gray and the soil still a tad soggy.
But with Brianna and Zach’s smiles, it didn’t matter anyway.
This couple coupled up any chance they could as we made away around the family farm. Brianna would try her dangest to keep a straight, serious face, with the giggle hiding underneath always bubbling out and boiling over to Zach, who would so often (like, every time, actually) meet his future bride’s laughter with a little bit of his own. They willingly posed and bumped heads and kissed (and kissed again) against a big beautiful red barn that popped against the ashen sky with the orange and yellows of autumn fluttering in the background.
All in all, it was a perfect day for a couple who followed their heart to each other, and now are on their way to a beautiful life together.
See a little of the beauty for yourself…
