Introductions are hard, am I right? I would much rather just jump right in with someone and become BBFs and share all the good stuff first…that’s what’s going to make us friends, after all.

Due to weather, I have had to reschedule many of the shoots that I would be sharing with you right now (thanks, rain!), so in lieu of new photos, here are a few new facts about me!

  1. Sgt. Pepper is my favorite Beatles Album. Hands down one of my favorite classes I took at UMD was “The Music and Lives of The Beatles,” which allowed me to listen to my dad’s vinyl of this crazy-cool compilation of what I would argue was some of the best songs the quad wrote. I love it.

  2. I live in ballet flats. I go between yoga pants to jeans to semi-formal on a weekly basis, and these little lovelies allow me to transition without carrying multiple pairs of shoes. My favorite brand? My Tieks! I am rocking a rose gold pair as I write this!

  3. Coffee is my jam. I love all coffee. Seriously. I have not met a coffee I don’t like. From the super dark to the really light, from black to all the fru-fru sugar and milk we can pour into it, from the steaming hot to freezing cold, I love all the coffee. Caribou is my favorite, but Aroma is an amazing placeholder for when I travel to the TLV (or NYC, such as this summer)

  4. Breakfast is my favorite meal. Waffles, french toast, turkey sausage, hashbrowns, over easy eggs, oh my! I could eat breakfast all day, every day, and never tire of it. BONUS: It pairs well with coffee, which we have already learned is my jam (which I can say, because I am more of a grape jelly kind of girl).

  5. I will take musicals over concerns any day. Remember just a couple of weeks ago, when there was that guessing game going around Facebook where we had to guess which concert our friends did NOT attend? Mine was super-simple, as I have been to one singular concert–Sister Hazel in 2000–but I have seen Fiddler on the Roof performed multiple times alone, not to mention other shows. I base my travels on what productions I can see (I am honestly heading to NYC, Philly, and DC basically because I got a ticket to Hamilton).

So there you go, a few fact about this photographer. Want to chat more? Come and find me over on Instagram or on Facebook–or even better, shoot me an email so we can keep the convo going!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
