Every single fall since I was –four-years-old has had a Back-To-School. From that first morning of preschool at St. Joe’s to this, my tenth “Welcome Back!” as a teacher, every year has a First Day of School. So for the the last 30 years, the Fourth of July coincides with new office supply set-ups at Target, and the county fair initiates the final countdown to that First Day of School. This is customary summer milestones that lead into the next season.
This year, I am excited to introduce what will hopefully become landmark and tradition for the dog days of summer. I am excited to say that I have preparing and prepping for my First Annual Back to School Mini Session. Like I have said a thousand times (and will probably say it a thousand more), I love photography because I love stories; in addition to (maybe moreso than) that I love the people that allow me to capture their narrative as they are living it. For this reason, I love mini sessions, am I am hoping you do, too (please check out my Facebook even page for specifics).
One of the favorite tales that I have ever heard is that of an adorable family from Nashwauk, a family I am so happy I have gotten to know over our mutual interest in archery. David and Kacey are the definition of the cutest couple ever—sweet, jovial, and dedicated. These words apply not only to each other, but to those around them and have been invited into their lives. From the cutest couple, then, there is bound to be the cutest kids ever; it was one Monday that brought these kids and their mom into my neighborhood to have a promotional shoot for the upcoming mini session so you all can see what you can expect when you join me in making memories as the summer slows down into September.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
