If you and I have anything in common (and I think we do), we both love a good DIY throw down. While I believe there is a lot in your wedding day you should leave up to professionals, guest books are so often a fun way to infuse a little handmade happiness into your celebration. In the spirit of personalization and warmth that I love to share with you, let’s explore five unique DIY Guest Book ideas that will add an extra touch of magic to your celebrations.

  1. Photo Guest Book: Begin your journey with a click and a flash! Set up a Polaroid camera station where guests can snap a quick photo of themselves. Have them attach these instant memories to a custom-made book and jot down their heartfelt messages beside their pictures. This interactive approach not only captures the joy of the moment but also leaves you with a visual keepsake filled with smiling faces and loving notes. Even better–there are so many ways to do this! Everyone loves a Fuji Instax camera, but Polaroid also has the cutest little sticker printer that prints right from a phone or tablet, so you can make it even easier for friends and gamily to leave happy memories. I have created this list over at Amazon of the items I think would be best for this form of guest book (yes, these are affiliate links…so I make a little moola for do the legwork and research.)
  2. Quilt Square Signing: Stitch together the fabric of your friendships and family bonds. Provide an assortment of fabric squares and fabric markers for guests to write their messages or draw something special. Post-wedding, these squares can be sewn into a cozy quilt, wrapping you in the warmth of your loved ones’ well-wishes every time you use it. If you (or someone you know) is a quilter, this might be a cool way to have a fun and functional guestbook.
  3. Wooden Heart Drop Box: Imagine a shadow box filled with love! This idea involves a box filled with small wooden hearts where guests can write their names or a little note before dropping them in. It’s not just a guest book; it’s a piece of art that symbolizes the love and support of your community.
  4. Message in a Bottle: Set sail on the seas of love with this timeless idea. Place a beautifully designed vintage bottle alongside small pieces of paper or scrolls. Invite your guests to write their wishes, advice, or predictions for your future, and then seal these messages for you to open and cherish on a future anniversary.
  5. Travel Map Guest Book: For the couple bitten by the travel bug, a world map guest book is a perfect nod to your adventurous spirit. Have a map where guests can pin or sign their names, suggest future travel destinations, or share memories of places you’ve visited together.

In conclusion, your wedding day is a canvas for your love story, and what better way to add color and character than with a DIY Guest Book that reflects your journey together? Each of these ideas not only provides a unique way to remember your day but also serves as a heartfelt reminder of those who shared it with you. Happy DIY-ing, and may your guest book be as full of love as your special day!

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
