Mothers of brides and mothers of the grooms are often my favorite people on wedding days. Their excitement for the celebration is only rivaled (and sometimes exceeds) by that of a couple, and that is always so awesome to capture. So raw, so real, so wonderful.
After all, it’s a big day for them, too.
They loved you before they even met you. To them, you are still that little being that they brought home –either by birth or by choice–and they have watched you bloom into the person you are today. No matter how they became your mom, you are a part of them that they are now giving to someone else. They are trusting that your beloved will treat you the way you deserve. You will always be their little lovie, so this day is a mixed blessing for them: They are so happy for you, but there is no doubt a little bit of sadness and disbelief that you are *this* age and are getting married.
That kind of tugs at the heartstrings, doesn’t it?
It’s so easy to channel that emotion into positive interaction on your wedding day. Let Mom help button up your dress. Allow her to pin on your boutonniere. Schedule in time during family formals to have a few images of just you and her. She will love those photos forever.
To celebrate the upcoming Mothers’ Day weekend, here are just a few of KLP’s favorite Mother/Daughter and Mother/Son moments. If a photo is worth a thousand words, these ones match that count with just as many laughs and tears.
