When it comes to choosing at date, some couples like to play it safe. Stay away from major holidays, pick a time where they weather is a little more constant, things like that. Other couples, they like to gamble. They take a risk and pick a date and location based on opportunity rather than probability.
Heather and Andrew are more of the latter, especially with their choice to not only have a winter elopement at Gunflint Lodge in Grand Marais, but to also choose the official First Day of Winter at The Day. Any Minnesotan would give that 1000 to 1 odds of cold or snow (if not both).
That game of chance paid off for these two, and their December wedding was everything they could have wanted—and then some.
These two planned their authentic elopement all the way north from their home in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, up to Gunflint Lake right on the Minnesota-Canada border. It was just the two of them as they embarked out on their next steps together. Their mutual excitement and anticipation was crystal clear in their first look. Andrew waited patiently for Heather to come behind him, and he could hardly contain his joy (and a few errant tears) once he saw his soon-to-be-wife. Heather in return had her own little show of emotions, which included plenty of smiles.
It was in the historic lodge, right in front of its epic split rock fireplace and with two employees serving as witnesses, these two promised a merry and bright future together. This future will weld two families together, creating one new, awesome, loving family.
And it was clear that both of these two were so excited about that. Congratulations to you, Heather + Andrew! Best of luck to you!!
