I am not a Halloween fanatic, but I do enjoy it. So many crafts and so much Halloween Candy…what’s not to love?
As a big DIY-er, I seriously enjoy making my own costume, such as the one year I went as jelly beans (thanks to a garbage bag and balloons) or the following year when I spiffed up a pillow case and a lampshade and went as toothpaste. I am also someone who has a whole mouth full of sweet teeth, so even though Halloween isn’t my favorite holiday, it is in the top five.
The day I celebrate more than Halloween? November 1, when all that candy is HALF OFF. That’s right—as you read this, I am probably in line at a Walmart (since Target hasn’t done as much of the 50% off the last few years…) checking out with twice as much candy as I need, but somehow still not enough.
My top five kinds of Halloween Candy? Easy:
1.) STARBURSTS
These are my long-time favorite pieces of candy—I used to have a whole fishbowl of them in my classroom. I could eat the pinks and reds all year long, but I especially love them in the little two packs that come around Halloween time. It always feels like a lucky day when I get both pink and/or red in one pack.
2.) POPCORN BALLS
I really, really, really like kettle corn and sweet popcorn. I love that popcorn balls are relevant from Halloween through the winter holidays. Some year I am going to dress up as a popcorn ball so I can eat my costume all throughout the day. This is a great recipe, sans Candy Corn.
3.) REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS
…says pretty much everyone, ever.
4.) MARY JANES
I love this peanut butter taffy. It’s chewy like saltwater taffy, but it peanut-buttery like Reese’s. They also last forever, so it is the spooky gift that keeps on giving.
5.) WAX LIPS
It’s straight-up just wax, but it tastes so good and has a different texture than gum which is always interesting.
The cool thing about these kinds of Halloween Candy? They have always been my favorites. It’s good to know that some things never change.
