Sometimes, the best things take a little time to happen.
Look at being a doctor. Four years of undergrad, three years of medical school, four years of residency…it takes a bit. But it is worth it.
This was the consensus, anyway, when Taya and Grant–the newly minted Dr. Grant–discussed how rather than heading right off onto a honeymoon immediately after their wedding, they are doing something even more exciting: Returning home and starting their married lives with Grant beginning his residency.
The same could be said about high school sweethearts; sometimes, that young love also takes its own time to become what it is meant to be. Taya and Grant, long time friends, hung out, but didn’t date. They went to the same prom, but with other dance partners. Their senior year, however, things tilted towards forever, and that forever is what brought family and friends together this past Saturday for this dynamic duo’s “I do”s. It was a perfect June day: Sunny but cool in the shade, not a single rain cloud threatening anything.
The day was like a smile–bright, friendly, and inviting…which is an easy way to describe Taya and Grant not only individually, but also the couple they are. An awful lot can be deduced about a bride and groom when they are prompted to make a “serious face.” Either they will embrace it, or it will be an epic fail that gives way to the most amazing, natural, authentic laughing-grin…which is truly what these two were best at providing. From the minute Grant first laid eyes on Taya, all dressed in her bridal beauty, a smile hardly ever left his face (the same can be true of Taya when she saw Grant rocking his navy suit).
There is a lot that awaits this couple in the future, some of which will take time, but no doubt they will look towards it all with their incredibly positive dispositions. Like it is often said, good things take time; the sweet little drops of chocolate they gave as favors didn’t come straight out of Milton Hershey’s head; he first took some time to learn the ropes of candy manufacturing, including how to make caramel, before he founded the chocolate process that would be his namesake. As these two move on into married life (which will eventually move them to the town the chocolate made famous for another round of residency), it will be like those little gift bags carefully placed on the tables of the Timberlake Hotel: Sweet and a full of kisses.
Best of luck to you, Taya + Grant!
