KAILYN + KEVIN: A GUNFLINT TRAIL FALL ELOPEMENT I WEDDING

Wedding

Fall in northern Minnesota is a finicky thing.
Too many variables to list contribute to the autumnal rainbow that we love even more than Pumpkin Spice. Unfortunately, this year fall has been a bit aloof, with partial changes in the north (and very little changes in the metro and south, thanks to a heatwave followed by some wind).
Fall can be found, however, down the Gunflint Trail. Like Dorothy’s arrival in Oz, it was a fall technolor wonder as the greens turned into various reds, oranges, and golds. It was perfect for all those in search of leaves.
It was perfect for Kailyn and Kevin’s elopement.
Northern Minnesota wasn’t always the plan for these two. Originally, they had hoped for St. Lucia, but when that did not come to fruition, they moved north to the Gunflint Lodge, a 1920s era lodge that for generations has provided a lovely setting for all sorts of northwoods adventures on the Ontario border. One late-September weekend, it was the backdrop for one of the greatest adventures of all: Love.
With Canada in their background and their fishing guide/officiant beside them, these high school sweethearts said “I do” in a simply beautiful ceremony on Gunflint Lake. Their first kiss was witnessed by a sweet six of their closest family members on this chilly 37 degree afternoon. By all accounts, it was perfect. The threat of rain moved along, the fog dissipated, and the ducks that had taken refuge on the shore we rewarded with corn for their part played in this adventure. And Winston, the furbaby of the bride and groom, got to enjoy a little time with Mom and Dad on their biggest day.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your marriage, Kailyn + Kevin! Best of luck to you and Winston!
