5 FAVORITE COCKTAILS AND MOCKTAILS

I learned early in my 20s that I am a beer girl. That’s what I enjoy the most. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy have a favorite cocktail or mocktail (or five) that I enjoy every once in a while.

What are my favorites? Well…

  1. MOJITOS

If you come over to my house during the summer, you will find two big bushy mojito mint plants on my deck, and that is purely for this drink. Hands down mojitos are my favorite mixed drink. I love the freshness of the lime, mints, and club soda, and I love being able to control the sweetness myself. This is also a drink that is easy to convert into a mocktail without altering the taste. It can also become like one of my favorite Middle Eastern beverages called a lemonana (a frozen mint lemonade) by swapping out the club soda for lemonade).

  1. SKIPPY OR SKIP AND GO NAKED

This might be a bit of a cheat, as this favorite cocktail includes beer, but it is one of my favorites. Beer, vodka, and lemonade combine together to make a whole new delicious drink. If you’ve never had one, think of a spiked Leine’s Summer Shandy. Skippies are wonderful on a hot day when you want a little more than a beer but don’t seem to want a full-fledged mixed drink. Yummy yummy.

  1. STRAWBERRY GINGER LEMONADE

I really enjoy this as a mocktail. The ginger gives it enough of a bite where you won’t just gulp it (it is very easy to sip and savor), and the berry lemonade is a wonderful combination of tarte and sweet. So very good.

  1. MOSCOW MULES

With my aforementioned love of citrus and ginger, we had to know this favorite cocktail was coming. I adore Moscow Mules. It’s just spicy enough to be interesting, and the tartness of the lime just adds so much. Also like the mojito, this can quickly be enjoyed as a mocktail by subbing the alcoholic ginger beer for the non-alcoholic ginger beer (so very similar in taste and gingerific punch).

  1. RUM AND COKE

When all else fails, add a little Bacardi to my main vice, Coca Cola, and call it a day. You cannot go wrong. It has been a favorite cocktails for nearly ever, and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

What is your favorite cocktail or mocktail? Bonus points if you drop the recipe!
