You’re right–that ring DOES make you look engaged! If you are recently engaged, congratulations!
If you are reading this while wearing some new bling on that left ring finger, congratulations! What a happy and amazing time for you! Live it up!!
Then start here:
1. SET A BUDGET
You will have no idea where to go if you don’t know how much gas it will take to get there. While wedding planning, your funds will be your fuel, so it is important to settle on how much money you have to allocate. Always start there.
2. DETERMINE WHAT YOU VALUE
Do you want amazing photographs, or do you want a DJ that will throw a raging party? Do you absolutely have to get married at that one venue, or are you open to other locales? Since you already have your budget, knowing what will take a bigger chunk of that will make the choices that follow that much easier. This will help you organize your dream team of vendors that you want to reach out to once you…
3. PICK YOUR DATE
Believe it or not, the previous point might help you here without even knowing it. There are two schools of thought when choosing a date. Some will pick a date based on sentimentality (a dating anniversary, for example); others make this call based on the availability of the value chosen in my second point. Explore both options and see what one fits best with your budget, vision, and heart.
These three steps are an easy way to get yourself to the wedding starting line; it will put you in a great place to get the rest of your day organized. (A bonus fourth tip? Join me from January 18 through 22 for a five-day wedding planning workshop to get yourself into a position to say “Yes!” with less stress).
