Ah, January, The month of refreshed energy. One of resolutions, goals, and ambitions to tackle the new year.
I’m not a big resolutions girl, but I do believe in setting goals. Every day, week, month, and year of mine has some set of goals. Here are my main ones for January:
1. READ TWO BOOKS–ONE BUSINESS, ONE FOR FUN
I’ll admit it: As an English teacher, I really don’t like reading. If it’s a good book I can’t put it down, but it takes a lot of selling to get to to crack open a book, especially fiction. I keep seeing all these posts from those who are reading 1.8 million books a year, and want a small sliver. I am going to read two books this month. The business one is Playing Big by Tara Mohr and the fun one is Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It by Sarah Gilbert.
2. JOURNAL 3 TIMES A WEEK
I used to be an avid journaler, but somewhere between college and a career, that fell by the wayside. I miss my time with my words, so I am making it a priority to sit down with my thoughts at least three times a week to record what I’m thinking, feeling, and doing during this stage in my life.
3. CREATE A BOOK OUTLINE
To go with my last goal, I really want to get my book done this year. I have been sitting on an idea for years, and it is time I let it out. My goal is a January 2023 launch, so that means I really need to get crack-a-lacking. My goal this month is to create the outline and set aside time in my schedule for writing.
4. VISIT A MN HISTORICAL SITE
I want to visit at least twelve different Minnesota Historical Society sites this year (I honestly think I’ve only been to one, ever, in my life. Ope, it’s actually three: Forest History Center, Split Rock Light House, and Snake River Fur Post!). To make it easier, I am going to try to do one a month. This month, I am going to start with the creme de la creme: I am going to visit the Minnesota State Capitol building. I’ll keep you informed!
5. BRING BACK THE HAPPY MAIL
Last year I ordered some super cute postcards. I had plans of sending them our randomly, and then…I did it once. I want to restart that this month, and try to send out a fleet of happy mail once a month going forward.
What is your main goal for January?
