It was one movie, Rayanna thought to herself. Even though she wasn’t super-excited about it or who it was with, she figured it couldn’t hurt. It was just one movie. A couple of hours of her life, and then it would be over, and then her and this guy who asked her, Cody, could go their separate ways.

As most “it’s only one” go, there was more than one date. Like “just one more cookie” or “just one more slice,”  there was more than one movie and more than one date. This lead to more than one week, one month, one year together. That one movie—the mere two hours it was—lead to the rest of their lives.

The rest of their lives started on the slanted slopes of Spirit Mountain the final Saturday of September. It was a beautiful fall day, with a settle tint of autumnal coloring forming on the fringes of leaves and a crispness to the air. It was a perfect day for this couple who had “fall”-en in love.

This wonderful weather played an important role in allowing this couple’s sentimental ceremony flawlessly happen. From their sweet vows to their handwashing unity ceremony—a beautiful moment where the imperfectness that each partner carries into the relationship is acknowledge and “washed away” for a new beginning—it was an important element for this new couple who also became a new family: Sitting at the very front in his own little row sat Dawson, who got to see the most important couple in his life become husband and wife.

Here is a little concentrated bit of that love…

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT KAYLA

At home on the road. Forever-focused on authenticity and the thrilling art of creation; always found in the moments that leave me breathless and in awe.

After fourteen years as a high school educator, I stepped back through a door I thought was closed. Journalism came back into my life. Armed with a Masters of Arts in Communication, I was again challenged and prepared to tell the stories that would become history, but with a twist: It is now your legacy of love that I document. The tension I seek is that from every tear, smile, laugh, and moment of love on your wedding day.
