Enger Tower Park is such a popular Duluth locale no matter the season, but if someone is seeking true beauty, it is amazing in the winter. I don’t know if it is the clean snow cover that makes is extra amazing, or if it is the hike on an ice-like road since the Parks and Rec department closes the gate, restricting traffic (and parking) to the area right outside the tower near Skyline Road.

 

Neither was a hindrance nor problem for Heather and Jesse two Sundays ago when we congregated around the stone pillar to take their engagement photos high on that overlook—the very same overlook they will peer over as they become husband and wife.

 

Their Sunday provided actual sun rays and a bit of warmth—something that had been missing from Northern Minnesota in the few days prior (we’re taking below zero…because negative temps are too often our winter reality!). This made for a great outdoor adventure for the three of us, their adorable Pitbull babies Ed and Heiress, and Heather’s mom, who looked after the grandpuppies as we played and posed in the urban wilderness around us.

 

This northern Minnesota boy and eastern Wisconsin girl who both now call southern Minnesota home simply beamed with each other during their session, making this photographer that much more excited for their fall destination wedding.  They were so compatible and easy-going with one another, which is always a perk—even more of a bonus was how friendly they were with everyone we encountered. Genuinely sweet and kind these two are, with I think is a tremendous sign of their years to come together (as well as for anyone who is lucky enough to meet them and get to call them friends).
